Join a highly-skilled technical team of Laboratory Technologists in LabQ Diagnostics – Molecular Department . Take on this important role, responsible for performing all patient tests, reading  slides, performing quality control procedures as well as standard preventative maintenance. In this role, the successful candidate Aids in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of disease using the latest computerized interfaced biomedical instruments to generate accurate, reliable results.. Examines specimens to detect various disease states. Correlates and interprets clinical laboratory tests using their independent judgment and responsibilities. Monitors quality, recognizes testing errors, detects and resolves problematic specimens. Disseminates clinical laboratory test information to clinicians. Evaluates clinical laboratory testing for each individual patient. Recognizes the need to incorporate new methodologies, instrumentation and tests as they relate to current trends and needs. Responsible for training and teaching students, residents and staff.

    • Licensure/ Certification:
      • ASCP certification (Preferred)
      • NYSDOH license (Preferred)
    • Experience:
      • Clinical Laboratory Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
      • Laboratory Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
    • Skills:
      • Proficient in laboratory testing, result reporting, equipment handling and troubleshooting, statistical analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Perform tests which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility, with a minimal supervision by the director or supervisor, in only those specialties or subspecialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience.
    • Function only under direct supervision and perform only tests which require limited technical skill and responsibility in the specialties in which the medical technologist is not qualified by education, training or experience.
    • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of test examinations
    • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
    • Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed
    • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance
    • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the supervisor or director.
    • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
